WEB Dubois All Boy Academy & Stadium
The new school is part of Jefferson County Public Schools development for more and better educational facilities in Louisville. In particular, the Academy, which is an all boys African-American charter, needed a new space which the middle and high school shared, furthering the Academy’s value on creating community. For many student minorities, kids become ‘just a number’. Dubois intent is to create a campus where that sense of belonging and ‘Pride’ takes a forefront, while giving advanced opportunities and resources to young black boys often overlooked and underserved.
I learned a lot from these two projects. It was helpful being able to reference the Academy drawings for information needed in the Stadium. I enjoyed being apart of a larger and smaller team to get a variety of experience and practice. These happened to be my first and last projects with Moody Nolan, and I appreciated the chance to be given more responsibility with guidance from my mentors and teammates.
Academy Project Team: Brent Wilcox. Karen Danko. Allen Yap. Dzung Thai. Afef Ellouze. Joanna Rivers.
Stadium Project Team: Karen Danko. Alex Oetzel. Harrison Zaye
My Scope: The work shown is a representation of a few ways I helped with CDs for the Academy. I had more, but similar responsibility with the stadium, however no stadium drawings shown.
