Eagan Community Center Expansion
The Eagan Community Center is a hub of activity for all members of the suburban Minneapolis city. As the area grows, so does the need for bigger and better facilities. The ECC wanted to enhance the center’s ability to manage and cater to its diverse groups of users and visitors. Currently, the center hosts large rental spaces, seniors day programs, offices, a gymnasium, youth areas, and fitness spaces.
This project was the addition and expansion of the existing ECC which was originally a Moody Nolan project in 2002. Expansion and renovation design involved moving and adding fitness areas, moving the seniors’ room, lobby renovations (second level infill), elevator addition, restroom additions, and other facility improvements.
ECC was my first opportunity to be more involved in the design process and decisions of a project. MN was responsible for SD documents, while our partner TKDA were the AOR. Given the desire to keep a malleable 3d work model, we used Revit Design Options and area plans to deliver schematic drawings. I was responsible for the construction and management of the SD model, communicating team designs, and producing 2d and 3d drawings for team and client review.

Biophilia was a design basis for the lobby space of ECC. With no clear directive on initial design we thought a fun and beneficial exercise could be sampling prompts for generative A.I. Results are extreme, however for the purposes of sparking discussion these proved helpful.
