The next frontier: space, the ocean, the desert. Architecture exists with the living through all parts of our world. The desert, however, has been an exception: in specific, sand ergs. It’s considered one of the most harsh climates for almost all living organisms. Architecture, with today’s technology, has the opportunity to explore the built environment within the sand desert. The Sahara Desert Ergs exhibit unique traits: granular terrain, migrating dunes, and lack of water.

Nomad’s Home references an oasis. It’s access to life, water. It’s an artificial aquifer that’s replenished by rain. The life within Nomad’s Home is dependent on water, so it’s not a permanent residence; it’s for nomads. But, more so the oasis is a nomad itself, as it continuously migrates with the forever moving sand dunes.

Besides a home, the structure is a research outpost for Finite scientists. The home provides the team with direct access to an abundant resource that could offer a better, more environmentally friendly alternative to concrete.
